Every holiday the amount of waste from gift wrapping always bothers me. It pains me to know such lovely materials will just be tossed into the trash bin. Since childhood I have had visions of the possibilities to create with these materials, but I was honestly too embarrassed to give it a go. I decided that this year would be different I would actually implement at least one of these ideas. So, as my family looked at me oddly, I gathered all of the ripped paper, bows, and tissue paper from this year's festivities and saved them with plans to give these materials a second life.
The giving basket was the first of my creations. It is created from reclaimed tissue paper, as well as yarn and rope remnants I had in my stash. The piece is completely compostable and, in my opinion, adds a modern / organic take on classic homeware essential.
Let me know your thoughts and if you would like a tutorial on how to make something similar.
